What is Autism
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) include several developmental disorders that affect the way an individual sees and relates to the rest of the world. ASD may limit the ability to interact socially with others and is characterized by the abnormal development of communication skills, social skills, and reasoning. The symptoms of ASD vary widely in severity, including impairment in social interaction, fixation on inanimate objects, inability to communicate normally, and resistance to changes in daily routine. Many children are misunderstood with families feeling like they are being judged for lack of parenting. Autism is an invisible disability, often difficult to detect.
